
Jennifer had always hoped to be a multitasking star. Jennifer was a lover of many different styles of music when she was a child, and particularly Afro-Caribbean dances like salsa, merengue, and merengue and bachata. In her later years, her preferred genres included traditional pop-hop music like R&B along with hip-hop. While she was a fan of films, music was also a fascination for her. Her biggest influence was the Rita Moreno musical, West Side Story (1961). At 5, Jennifer began taking singing and dancing lessons. Jennifer, besides being an entertainer , as well as a Catholic schoolgirl, was a student for eight years of Holy Family Catholic elementary school in The Bronx. After a four-year stay and graduation, she attended Preston High School, an all-girls prep school. Jennifer performed well in the sports department at school and competed in tennis as well as track and field. She spent most of her upbringing in a two-story house within the Castle Hill neighborhood. Jennifer quit the home of her parents at 18 , to leave. In the meantime, Lopez worked at a law firm while she took dancing gigs at night.
